The ISPE-CaSA Chapter established a scholarship fund in 2015 to encourage students who seek a career in the life sciences industry. Jane Brown was a Past-President of the CaSA Chapter and past ISPE Chairman.
Jane helped establish the first ever CaSA ISPE Student Chapters within our Chapter at North Carolina State University and Campbell University Student Chapters in 1995.
The scholarship is open to CaSA Student Chapter members enrolled in either an undergraduate or graduate field of study at an accredited university or college. Over the years, we have awarded one to two scholarships to deserving candidates based on their scholarship application, ISPE involvement and contributions, academic achievement, letters of recommendation, and essay.
Our scholarship judges have ranged from former student chapter members, industry advisors to our student chapters, and those with a personal stake to support our future leaders of industry. We now utilize the CaSA Board of Directors, who all represent local owner companies, to served on the judging panel for the Jane Brown CaSA ISPE Scholarship.
The 2022 Scholarship winner(s) will be announced at our 30th Annual Life Sciences Technology Conference on February 28, 2023, in Raleigh, NC. The CaSA ISPE Conference is our largest event, and we want to ensure that our amazing and talented Scholarship Winners get the recognition they deserve.

Innovations in BioManufacturing, a CDMO perspective
This year marks the 40th year of the approval of the first FDA approve biotechnology drug. Our industry has evolved tremendously and we have seen incredible changes to make life impacting medicines available.
We have seen an evolution and expansion in the modalities that are going through the drug development life cycle. Biomanufacturing needs to be ready with the required infrastructure, innovation, flexibility and expertise to deliver these treatments.
CDMOs, such as FUJIFILM Diosynth Biotechnologies, are implementing innovations that will drive the future of Biomanufacturing. Innovation in the CDMO spaces, can be different than innovation from discovery and molecule ownership and will bring different value.
