The Jane Brown Scholarship
The ISPE-CaSA Chapter established a scholarship fund in 2015 to support students seeking a career in the life sciences industry. It is awarded to eligible CaSA Chapter Emerging Leaders members enrolled in either an undergraduate or graduate field of study at an accredited university or college.
The Scholarship is named for Jane Brown, a Past-President of the CaSA Chapter and past ISPE Chairman. Jane helped establish the first ever CaSA ISPE Student Chapters within our Chapter at North Carolina State University and Campbell University Student Chapters in 1995.
Over the years, we have awarded one to two scholarships to candidates based on their scholarship application, ISPE involvement and contributions, academic achievement, letters of recommendation, and essays.
Our scholarship judges have ranged from former student Chapter members to industry advisors to student chapters to those with a personal stake in supporting our future industry leaders. Today, the CaSA Board of Directors, all of whom represent locally owned companies, serve on the judging panel for the Jane Brown CaSA ISPE Scholarship.
The 2023 Scholarship winner(s) were announced at the ISPE-CaSA Chapter’s Life Sciences Technology Conference on February 28, 2023, in Raleigh, NC.

More About Jane Brown
Jane’s contributions to ISPE are immeasurable. In 2011, she was awarded the James B. Purdy Distinguished Achievement award for her consistent, dedicated, and passionate service to ISPE over 18 years.
After joining the Society in 1993, Jane served in numerous leadership roles, which culminated in chairing the Board for ISPE’s Carolina-South Atlantic Chapter in 1999 and ultimately led to serving as Chair of ISPE’s International Board of Directors in 2007.
Jane is perhaps best known for her selfless work in developing programs and raising awareness on behalf of ISPE students and emerging leaders. Her efforts to charter the first student chapters across the organization have been integral to CaSA’s growth and the exceptional group of students and young professionals we have today.
