ASME BPE: Perspectives from an insider (and how to get involved!) This presentation will give an overview of the ASME BPE Standard: Who, What, When, Where, Why, and How. Have you ever wondered who writes the book, and how they do it? This session will describe the mechanics of the BPE Stanard’s Committee, how to get involved, and why it’s so critical for wide industry participation in the effort.
The ASME’s place amongst the alphabet soup of BioPharma industry associations will be discussed, along with the interdependencies amongst these organizations. The process of writing the book will be described, including: onboarding of new topics, authoring and revision of content, balloting and approval, and periodic publication. Gain insight into the membership of the organization, including how new and interested participants can get involved. Not sure if this talk is for you?… have a look within the standards, specifications, and procedures/practices of your organization, and count the number of times the BPE is incorporated by reference (hint, it may be quite a few!) – then, come along and learn how to join the BPE in its mission of improving and standardizing the design and construction of the equipment we use every day!
